Em alusão ao Dia Mundial de Conscientização da Epilepsia, celebrado em 26 de março, o deputado estadual Roberto Cidade (UB), presidente da Assembleia Legislativa do Amazonas (Aleam), reforça a importância da Lei nº 6.273/2023, de sua autoria, que institui a “Semana Estadual de Conscientização sobre a Epilepsia nas Repartições Públicas e Empresas Privadas no Amazonas”. A proposta tem como objetivo ampliar o conhecimento sobre a doença, combater o estigma e promover mais qualidade de vida para os pacientes.
“A epilepsia pode se manifestar em qualquer fase da vida, mas, com acompanhamento médico adequado, autocuidado e apoio da rede de convivência, é possível ter qualidade de vida. Nossa lei busca exatamente isso: levar informação para que a sociedade saiba como acolher e agir corretamente”, destacou o presidente.
De acordo com a Organização Mundial de Saúde (OMS), a epilepsia afeta cerca de 50 milhões de pessoas em todo o mundo — o que corresponde a aproximadamente 2% da população brasileira. Apesar de ser uma condição neurológica passível de controle na maioria dos casos, ainda é cercada por desinformação e preconceito.
Semana de conscientização nas empresas e órgãos públicos
A Lei nº 6.273/2023 determina que a semana de conscientização tenha ações voltadas a:
•Reduzir o estigma relacionado à epilepsia;
•Estimular a contratação de pessoas com epilepsia no mercado de trabalho;
•Capacitar servidores públicos, empresários e colaboradores sobre como agir em caso de crises epilépticas.
As atividades poderão incluir palestras, distribuição de materiais informativos, campanhas publicitárias e parcerias com Organizações da Sociedade Civil (OSCs) e entidades públicas ou privadas.
Como agir durante uma crise epiléptica
O Ministério da Saúde orienta:
•Mantenha a calma e afaste objetos que possam causar ferimentos;
•Deite a pessoa de costas, com a cabeça protegida e virada de lado para evitar sufocamento;
•Não force os movimentos, não coloque objetos na boca e não ofereça líquidos;
•Se a crise durar mais de cinco minutos, chame atendimento médico.
Purple Day e mobilização global
O Dia Mundial de Conscientização da Epilepsia, também conhecido como Purple Day (Dia Roxo), convida pessoas em todo o mundo a utilizarem a cor roxa como símbolo de apoio à causa.
Criada em 2008 pela canadense Cassidy Megan, a data representa um esforço global para dar visibilidade à condição, combater o preconceito e fortalecer a rede de apoio aos pacientes.
