No último sábado (15/08), a Fundação Estadual do Índio (FEI), prestigiou a eleição do novo cacique-geral da Comunidade Parque das Tribos, que teve como eleito Miqueias Kokama, de 25 anos. Ele substituí o pai, cacique Messias Martins Moreira da etnia Kokama, falecido em 13 de maio, vítima de Covid-19. Eleito com 411 votos, ele é o primeiro cacique escolhido em uma eleição direta na história da comunidade, que existe desde 2014 e fica localizada no Tarumã-Açu, zona oeste de Manaus.
O diretor-presidente da FEI, Edivaldo Munduruku, avaliou como positivo o processo baseado na escolha popular. “Democracia é isso, é você ser consultado sobre o que vai impactar em sua comunidade. E a Comunidade Parque das Tribos está de parabéns pela show de democracia entre eles. Meu desejo é que o cacicado do ‘parente’ Miqueias Kokama seja de muito sucesso, afinco e transparência, tal qual foi o de seu pai”, relatou o diretor.
A eleição iniciou às 17h, no Centro de Educação Indígena, e somente pessoas a partir de 18 anos podiam votar. A aldeia urbana Parque das Tribos é formada por 700 famílias, com cerca de 4 mil indígenas de 35 etnias distintas, ocupando uma área de 378.145,23 metros quadrados.
“Daremos continuidade ao legado deixado pelo saudoso cacique Messias Kokama, continuaremos com as parcerias já existentes e buscaremos por novas adesões. E o mais importante, lutaremos pela preservação das nossas tradições e rituais”, finalizou Miqueias.
Edital de Convocação – A coordenação provisória da Organização dos Povos Indígenas do Amazonas (Opiam), está convocando os líderes e caciques dos povos indígenas do estado para assembleia geral a ser realizada no próximo dia 19 de setembro, na qual será oficializada a criação da Opiam.
