(UOL/Folhapress) – O cacique Raoni Metuktire, de 94 anos, apresentou melhora clínica e voltou a se alimentar hoje por via oral, segundo boletim divulgado pelo Hospital São Paulo, onde está internado desde a última semana. O líder indígena se recupera de uma cirurgia de desobstrução intestinal realizada no sábado (20).
De acordo com o boletim médico, Raoni iniciou a transição para a alimentação oral. Até então, a nutrição era feita com auxílio de uma sonda. O hospital informou ainda que o cacique apresenta evolução clínica estável, está sem febre, tem função renal normal e respira em ar ambiente, sem necessidade de aparelhos.
Raoni está internado no Hospital São Paulo, da Universidade Federal de São Paulo (Unifesp), desde 19 de junho. Antes disso, ele permanecia hospitalizado no Hospital e Maternidade Dois Pinheiros, em Sinop, no norte de Mato Grosso, para tratamento de um quadro que incluiu obstrução intestinal, desidratação e pneumonia aspirativa. A transferência foi realizada para que ele recebesse acompanhamento especializado em São Paulo.
No sábado, o líder indígena foi submetido a uma cirurgia de desobstrução intestinal por técnica minimamente invasiva. Segundo o hospital, o procedimento ocorreu sem complicações.
Raoni é líder dos kayapó, um povo indígena nômade, e é conhecido internacionalmente. Reconhecido por seu grande disco labial -símbolo de um guerreiro disposto a morrer por sua terra- e seu cocar de penas amarelas, ele denuncia há mais de três décadas as ameaças contra os povos amazônicos por causa do desmatamento.
Ele também foi importante ator para demarcar os territórios mbêngôkre e defender os povos na Constituinte. O cacique também levou dezenas de guerreiros kayapós a Brasília em um esforço de inserir, no texto da nova Constituição, a garantia aos direitos indígenas e à demarcação de terras.
