O presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) disse nesta 4ª feira (19.jul.2023) que a dívida que o Brasil tem com a África por causa dos mais de 3 séculos de escravidão no país deve ser paga com a oferta de formação educacional para estudantes africanos. Em sua 1ª visita ao continente desde que assumiu a Presidência da República pela 3ª vez, Lula disse também que o país tem “profunda gratidão” pelo que foi produzido por escravizados no período.
“Nós brasileiros somos formados pelo povo africano. A nossa cultura, a nossa cor, o nosso tamanho, é resultado da miscigenação de índios, negros e europeus. Temos profunda gratidão ao continente africano por tudo o que foi produzido durante 350 anos de escravidão no nosso país. A forma de pagamento que um país como o Brasil pode fazer [trecho da transmissão ao vivo interrompido] é a possibilidade de formação de gente para que tenham especialização nas várias áreas que o continente africano precisa, para a possibilidade de industrialização e de agricultura”, disse.
Lula fez um breve pronunciamento em Praia, capital de Cabo Verde, depois de ter se reunido com o presidente do país, José Maria Neves. O chefe do Executivo brasileiro fez uma escala no local em sua volta ao Brasil, depois de ter participado por 2 dias da 3ª Cúpula entre a União Europeia e a Celac (Comunidade de Estados Latino-americanos e Caribenhos), realizada em Bruxelas, na Bélgica.
A escala é obrigatória porque o avião presidencial não tem autonomia de voo suficiente e precisa parar para reabastecimento. Lula e a primeira-dama, Janja Lula da Silva, querem trocar a aeronave por uma que tenha maior capacidade de voo e estudam comprar um novo avião.
Ao lado do presidente de Cabo Verde, Lula disse também querer retomar “boa e produtiva” relação do Brasil com o continente africano e criticou, mais uma vez, a gestão de seu antecessor, o ex-presidente Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
“Se nós não tivéssemos um governo negacionista, o Brasil poderia ter produzido vacina contra covid, poderia ter ajudado o continente africano. Infelizmente, tivemos desgoverno que não cumpriu com o essencial, que é cuidar do ser humano”, disse.
Lula declarou também que o Brasil voltou à democracia com o seu governo e que as pessoas que estiveram envolvidas nos atos extremistas do 8 de Janeiro serão punidas. “Brasil quer democracia, respira democracia, precisa de democracia, e o mundo também precisa de democracia”, disse.
