O Ministério Público do Trabalho (MPT) instaurou uma investigação para apurar denúncias de assédio sexual envolvendo trabalhadoras da fábrica da BYD, em Camaçari, na Região Metropolitana de Salvador. As acusações foram apresentadas pelo Sindicato dos Metalúrgicos de Camaçari, que afirma ter recebido relatos formais de funcionárias sobre comportamentos inadequados praticados por líderes chineses e brasileiros da montadora.
Além das denúncias de assédio sexual, os trabalhadores reivindicam melhorias nas condições de trabalho, reajuste salarial, aumento do vale-alimentação, redução dos custos do plano de saúde e a criação de políticas permanentes de prevenção e combate ao assédio moral e sexual dentro da empresa.
A mobilização dos funcionários ganhou força após uma assembleia realizada na última semana, que terminou em clima de tensão com a presença da Polícia Militar nas proximidades da unidade industrial. Segundo o sindicato, trabalhadores se sentiram intimidados durante o encontro, que discutia a pauta da campanha salarial de 2026.
A BYD já esteve no centro de outras investigações trabalhistas no Brasil. Em 2024 e 2025, a empresa foi alvo de ações do MPT relacionadas às condições de trabalho na construção de sua fábrica na Bahia, incluindo casos de trabalhadores resgatados em situação análoga à escravidão.
O número de denúncias e os detalhes dos supostos episódios não foram divulgados. Até o momento, a montadora não se pronunciou publicamente sobre as denúncias.
