O farmacêutico é amplamente conhecido por sua atuação na dispensação de medicamentos em farmácias e drogarias, mas seu papel vai muito além disso. Esses profissionais de saúde estão capacitados para oferecer uma série de serviços que complementam o atendimento médico, promovendo maior acesso a cuidados básicos e contribuindo para a saúde da comunidade.
A profissão farmacêutica tem raízes antigas, quando farmácia e medicina eram atividades integradas, responsáveis tanto pela criação de medicamentos quanto pelos atendimentos de saúde. A separação ocorreu em 1162 e foi consolidada em 1240 com o Tratado Édito de Melfi, que determinou que os papéis deveriam ser distintos. No Brasil, a regulamentação e os cursos específicos deram força ao papel do farmacêutico, que hoje desempenha funções cada vez mais diversificadas.
Um marco recente na área foi a criação da Lei 12.021/2014, que transformou as farmácias em espaços de atenção básica à saúde. Essa mudança abriu novas possibilidades de atuação, como a realização de exames laboratoriais rápidos, aplicação de vacinas e maior envolvimento no acompanhamento de pacientes.
“Além da dispensação de medicamentos, o farmacêutico passou a atuar de forma mais abrangente, oferecendo serviços que facilitam o acesso da população a cuidados importantes”, explica Jhonata Vasconcelos, supervisor farmacêutico da rede Santo Remédio.
Celebrado em 20 de janeiro, o Dia do Farmacêutico reforça a importância de reconhecer o trabalho desses profissionais. “Essa celebração é uma oportunidade para refletir sobre a evolução da profissão e o impacto positivo que ela traz à saúde pública”, comenta Vasconcelos.
Exames rápidos e imunização
Uma das frentes mais destacadas da atuação ampliada do farmacêutico é a realização de exames laboratoriais rápidos. Testes de gravidez, glicemia, hepatites, dengue, Zika e até PSA, utilizado na avaliação da saúde da próstata, estão entre os serviços disponíveis em muitas farmácias. Na Santo Remédio, por exemplo, esses exames são realizados no espaço Farma + Clinic, que conta com salas exclusivas e estrutura adequada.
“Os exames podem ser feitos sem agendamento, e os resultados são entregues rapidamente. Isso torna o processo mais prático para o cliente, que recebe orientações sobre como proceder e, se necessário, é encaminhado a um médico”, afirma Vasconcelos.
Outra possibilidade crescente nas farmácias é a aplicação de vacinas. Serviços como esses ajudam a suprir lacunas no sistema de saúde, oferecendo imunizantes contra doenças como gripe, hepatite, dengue e herpes zóster.
“Dispomos de salas de vacinação estruturadas, que atendem das 7h às 23h. Não é necessário agendar, e o cliente pode contar com uma ampla gama de vacinas em unidades específicas de Manaus”, destaca Vasconcelos.
Mesmo em sua função mais conhecida, a dispensação de medicamentos, o papel do farmacêutico vai além de fornecer o produto. Ele é responsável por orientar o uso correto dos remédios, explicar potenciais interações com outros medicamentos e esclarecer dúvidas dos clientes.
“Nosso objetivo é garantir que o cliente utilize os medicamentos com segurança e eficácia. Durante o atendimento, ajustamos orientações conforme as necessidades de cada pessoa e, sempre que necessário, sugerimos alternativas ou encaminhamentos médicos”, completa Vasconcelos.
Desafios e avanços
Apesar da ampliação de serviços nas farmácias, muitos clientes ainda desconhecem essas possibilidades, o que representa um desafio para a adesão a práticas preventivas e cuidados básicos. Com a atuação mais próxima à comunidade, os farmacêuticos contribuem para desafogar o sistema de saúde e ampliar o acesso a atendimentos essenciais, consolidando sua posição como agentes de cuidado primário.
