Um novo golpe virtual de grande alcance está se espalhando pelo WhatsApp e já preocupa especialistas em segurança digital no Brasil. Segundo a empresa de cibersegurança Kaspersky, um novo vírus — apelidado de Maverick — vem sendo distribuído por meio de mensagens no aplicativo e tem como principal alvo os usuários brasileiros. O malware é projetado para roubar informações pessoais e bancárias, utilizando técnicas avançadas de disfarce e propagação automática.
Diferente de golpes tradicionais que dependem apenas da curiosidade das vítimas, o Maverick é um trojan disfarçado em um arquivo ZIP aparentemente inofensivo. Dentro dele, há um atalho (.LNK) que, quando executado, inicia a infecção no computador. O vírus tem a capacidade de verificar o idioma e o fuso horário do sistema e só continua a operação se o dispositivo estiver configurado para o Brasil, o que reforça o foco direcionado ao público brasileiro.
De acordo com a Kaspersky, o Maverick consegue contornar mecanismos de segurança do WhatsApp e do WhatsApp Web, o que permite que ele se espalhe rapidamente. Após infectar um computador, o vírus aproveita sessões ativas do WhatsApp Web para reenviar o mesmo arquivo malicioso para os contatos e grupos da vítima, multiplicando as tentativas de infecção. Somente nos dez primeiros dias de outubro, foram registradas mais de 62 mil tentativas bloqueadas.

Objetivo do vírus
O objetivo principal do malware é monitorar a atividade online das vítimas e capturar dados sensíveis. Ele consegue registrar teclas digitadas, tirar capturas de tela, detectar acessos a sites de bancos e corretoras e até exibir páginas falsas idênticas às originais, com o intuito de enganar o usuário e roubar credenciais. Além disso, o vírus intercepta formulários e pode obter tokens de sessão armazenados em navegadores, comprometendo completamente a segurança do sistema.
Usuários infectados podem perceber sinais como mensagens sendo enviadas automaticamente pelo WhatsApp Web, lentidão anormal no computador, janelas inesperadas pedindo senhas ou notificações do antivírus sobre scripts desconhecidos. Caso isso ocorra, a recomendação é desconectar o computador da internet, realizar uma varredura completa com um antivírus atualizado e trocar todas as senhas — de e-mail, WhatsApp e principalmente de contas bancárias.
Como se proteger
Para evitar cair nesse tipo de golpe, a melhor orientação é: não abra arquivos ZIP ou anexos suspeitos, mesmo que enviados por conhecidos. É importante confirmar a veracidade do envio por outro canal, como uma ligação ou mensagem fora do aplicativo. A Meta, empresa responsável pelo WhatsApp, também reforça o uso da autenticação em duas etapas, senhas diferentes para cada conta e a manutenção de backups regulares em dispositivos externos.
