Diplomatas fazem protesto contra Netanyahu durante fala na ONU

O primeiro-ministro de Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu foi alvo de protestos no momento de sua fala na Assembleia Geral da ONU nesta sexta-feira (27). Enquanto Netanyahu se preparava para iniciar seu discurso no evento, dezenas de diplomatas se retiraram do plenário, entre eles a comitiva brasileira.

O protesto foi devido ao grande número de mortes de cidadãos palestinos — 40 mil, desde o ano passado — que Israel tem promovido na Faixa de Gaza e aos recentes ataques ao Líbano, mirando o grupo Hezbollah, que em apenas uma semana já deixou 700 mortos.

No mesmo dia do discurso de Netanyahu na Assembleia da ONU, um ataque israelense no Sul do Líbano matou 25 pessoas, sendo quatro delas crianças, e nove delas da mesma famíla. Em resposta, o Hezbollah atacou o norte de Israel, lançando diversos mísseis na região, e intensificando o confronto.

Protesto na ONU

O protesto mostra a preocupação da comunidade internacional sobre o impacto humanitário do conflito. A grande maioria dos países que se retiraram da sessão quando Netanyahu foi chamado para discursar, eram de origem árabe. Na diplomacia, esse tipo de retirada — uma retirada discreta — é visto como um ato de protesto.

Já os diplomatas brasileiros se retiraram do salão momentos antes da retirada em massa das outras delegações. De acordo com o Itamaraty, além da crise humanitária na Faixa de Gaza, o protesto brasileiro foi motivado pela morte de dois brasileiros nos ataques no Líbano.

A impaciência internacional por uma resolução diplomática do conflito — que ainda parece distante –, também motivou o ato.

Na última quinta-feira (26), Benjamin Netanyahu negou uma protosta de cessar-fogo feita por diversos países, entre eles seus aliados, Estados Unidos, o Reino Unido e os Emirados Árabes.
